this is bullshit propaganda...the ban on ddt was for agricultural use only and was never banned in the fight against malaria...they have always used ddt in south africa to combat malaria and they use it in 24 other countries 2day...the ban specifically says u can use ddt in the case of malaria, if that is not the case then why do they use it in 25 countries 2day...and if your still not convinced then why is south africa allowed to use ddt...bitch

No, WHO did not say DDT should be the MAIN weapon. WHO said DDT should be used as Rachel Carson advised, in a carefully controlled program of integrated pest management.

WHO tried to make it clear that DDT, in tiny amounts, had been used and would be used.

But you missed the 2009 announcement that DDT had simply ceased to work -- and so WHO is abandoning it again.

Bednets are more effective, and much less expensive. Do we want to cure malaria, or bash environmentalists? Beat malaria.

A friend of mine once once took a class taught by Heinz Meng himself, America's foremost expert on raptors and asked him point blank about DDT in the classroom. Meng's reply was that everything we'd ever heard or read about DDT was bullshit and that the entire reason raptors were disappearing in the 40s and 50s was people using them for shotgun practice.
