The Everly Brothers are the sound and the image of the innocence of the fifties. The close harmony singing and the steel-string guitar playing are their trademark. So simple and so good.

The originality of these real brothers hasn't been duely recognized. One can notice the Everly Brothers in loads of songs and interpretations that have come up after them.
The unfair face of it is that this is never publicly mentioned by the "followers".

@greeneyeslinz There must be some reason that so many people are nostalgic about those days. I think it has a lot to do with the music. You could always find something GOOD to listen to on the radio!

This is great .. but can anybody tell me what the host was meaning when he made fun of Don by saying, "Funny a 20 year old would say his name in the first place" ... what the heck was he meaning .. I just cannot figure it .. it was kind of a jerk to them it seems .. talking down to them ..unless it can be explained .. and they did not smile because they were not plastic .. they were cool & laid back .. James Dean style ....

@0007mgs Better is opinion. Utilizing parallel thirds in harmonies is a fact. The Everly Bros. did it first, so the Beatles vocal sound, which is the main stay of the entire Beatles sound, is highly derivative. There are tracks the ONLY sing on. What someone likes better is neither her nor their. I just think the Beatles get too much credit as pioneers, where really they were taking bits of other acts and repackaging it with squeaky clean cute faces for the teeny-boppers and their parents.
