The Everly Brothers are the sound and the image of the innocence of the fifties. The close harmony singing and the steel-string guitar playing are their trademark. So simple and so good.

Better is opinion. Utilizing parallel thirds in harmonies is a fact. The Everly Bros. did it first, so the Beatles vocal sound, which is the main stay of the entire Beatles sound, is highly derivative. There are tracks the ONLY sing on. What someone likes better is neither her nor their. I just think the Beatles get too much credit as pioneers, where really they were taking bits of other acts and repackaging it with squeaky clean cute faces for the teeny-boppers and their parents.

I scream like a girl who just went to an Elvis concert when I see this! They both were so handsome and good looking when they were young!

I was so young when Wake up Little Suzie came out that I wasn't even sure of the subject matter...but like so many of the Everly Brothers songs, liked it from the first couple of bars. For this one i think i was eight. How could i be "through with heartache, through with love" at age eight? I didn't know, but I felt it. I endured an unrequited crush with All I Have to Do is Dream for theme to my heartbreak, and Bird Dog rang in my ears in 6th grade. Don't need my '45s now!
