The Prime Minister's briefing on the National Standards policy being officially launched today. For more information, visit www.national.org.nz/education
Some rhetoric that sounds okay if you don't know anything about the National Standards. Education is at the beginning of massive change, thanks largely to mobile communication technologies. Schools are trying to keep up with 21st century life while dealing with a lack of funding and now a return to a 19th century assessment methods. Until we reform at a ministry level, changes in the classroom will be too slow and too small to be effective. NS do not serve the kids in our schools.
what he really means when he says equal opportunites he actually means, those in the middle class get a better deal at the expense of the working and lower classes.
It's about time something was done about the education system. Our country has been waaaaay to PC for too long, teachers have no power and some often lack the will to discipline because of this and because they're scared about offending the kids. My Dad's a teacher, he doesn't care what students think about him, so he's strict. And his students do extremely well. I think the Govt. needs to focus on Secondary schools aswell though. No more tall poppy syndrome too!!

Why are your videos not captioned? Would be nice if you considered your Deaf/Hearing-Impaired voters who voted for you...
