The village of Riogordo celebrated its tenth Día del Carcol (Snail Day) at then end of May 2009. Around 5 000 people enjoyed a local fiesta of flavour and colour. The secret to the cooking of Caracoles en caldo (Snails in broth) is in the herbs and flavourings used in the broth, which include among other things mint and dried orange peel.
