Your title is actually correct, I mean the word order :). I'm no expert myself but I'm sure about this one.

Are you sure that "Sorairo no Yakusoku" translates to "The Empty Color of Promises"? The grammar doesn't make sense (Yakusoku should come before the no particle in that case), and from a quick search in the dictionary, Sorairo comes up as "sky-blue". So it would more accurately translate as "Sky-Blue Promise".

That's a viable translation as well.
The reason I chose to go with "The Empty Color of Promises" is because the kanji for "sora" (空) not only translates to "sky", but also translates to "empty" or refers to any point in space that's empty or vacant.
So "The Empty Color of Promises" and "Sky-Blue Promise" are both passable translations for "Sorairo no Yakusoku".

I see. That makes sense then.
Still, what about the word order? Unless there's some weird exception I'm not aware of, shouldn't it be "Yakusoku no Sorairo" in the former case?

You're probably right about that. I'm still struggling to learn Japanese, so I hope you'll forgive that some of my translations might be incorrect. <.<;
