Honestly I liked the US version, I am a big fan of Molly Shannon ever since Superstar, and snl. I never did watch the australian version first, so I didn't compare them. I thought the show was funny cuz it was a show about a disfunctional mother/daughter relationship, and I could relate, but this show was a extreme.

You know, I actually think the closest American thing that comes closest to the sort of bogan-y feel and dry humour of Kath and Kim is Napoleon Dynamite, though it's still a rather different style. This bears no resemblance whatsoever.
