Series 201 was completed in 1979 as a first "energy saving train" in Japan.and 2006, it's going to be replaced by series E233, the latest train.

I've been lucky enough to have been on one of these during my life. Just watching them here brings back so much nostalgia - the Chuo line is almost like a part of my life.

The 201 series are like a vintage train museum on the track!

I strongly agree! The old 201 gets the good spring. This reminds me of sitting on my old Mercedes and my old couch.
The 233 series' seats are okay. But I still prefer the 201's seats.
The worst ones are the foldable seats that found on the current Yamanote-line's seats. Which I feel like sitting on the concrete block.
they should have kept them! the seats were much more comfortable on these than the e233
