No, he didn't "throw the cat against the wall". Watch it again. He imparts force to the cat in a linear fashion, hoping that if the cat retained its attitude in relation to the wall, the cat's claws could get a grip. Unfortunately, the cat's visual processing and internal balance sensors confused the crap out of it and it couldn't cope. Poor kitty! Did you see how big his tail puffed up? Scared kitteh was freaked OUT.

What they've done is tape a buttered piece of toast to the cats back. As we all know toast will never fall butter side up and cats always land on their feet therefore gravity has no choice but to suspend the cat until the toasts is removed.
