A few weeks ago, Jesse Rosen wrote an article explaining the technical definition of LOG-encoded video and how it differs from a viewing gamma such as REC709. To better understand how you might use LOG capture in production, Mitch shot this video illustrating the differences.

What's really great about the Alexa is that you can send Rec709 to your tap while still recording in LogC. The EVF also has a button to switch between Log and Rec709 without affecting the recording. Fantastic camera.
