Slight correction. The "Eagle nebula photo is actually only a very small part of the nebula, a "small" section (left pillar is 4 light years long, about 4 solar system widths) near the center called the Pillars of Creation.
Fun Fact: The Pillars were destroyed 6000 years ago by a shockwave from a supernova, We'll notice it about 1000 years.
