Dedicated to my dear friend SanDiLee21 who shares my Scottish roots.Ttha gaol agam ort, Peathar!

As a tree prepares for its dormant winter life, it draws the nutrients and chlorophyll back into the branches and trunk. As a result the leaves show the wonderful colors that were there all the time. Eventually these leaves die and are shed from the tree. In turn those dead leaves add nutrients to the soil.

I think this is a wonderful process! To see nature take care of its most important vegetation. To know that without this event the tree would simply die of starvation and not be able to give us shade and oxygen in the spring and summer.

So when you see those trees stripped of their lovely green and watch those leaves turn brown and die, remember how generous nature is at protecting its own. Welcome this process as much as you welcome the first buds opening.

Hope you enjoy this look at Autumn from this Ozark Mountain girl.
