Showing and shooting a WWII Japanese rifle, the Arisaka. A friend asked me if I would want to do a video with this gun, and I thought that anything of WWII vintage is worth showing off.

  • Hello,

I would think that the sticker on the stock was from an auction.

The rifle is a third variation Type-44 carbine...either made by Kokura Arsenal or Nagoya Arsenal. It's a standard size carbine. Not unlike other Mauser carbines or even the Russian 44. Often times you will find that rifles with attached bayonets windage will be off if the bayonet is not extended. The Russian 44 is a good example. Also the absence, as is your case, of the bayonet may also affect windage. Nice video.

  • I'm about the same size as most Japanese people. LOL Love your humor.

  • I have an Arisaka my grandfather took from a cave in WW2. The Imperial Seal is still located on the bolt. I have never had it appraised, but wouldn't sell it for the world!

  • Is that an original pre-1943 Arisaka?! They are incredibly rare and expensive?

  • A closer pronunciation would be "ah-di-sah-kah" As the Japanese 'r' is not pronounced like ours. Its closer to a spanish(Mexican) r sound. somewhere between and L and a D. I am really enjoying your videos, I own an SKS and I have always wanted an Arisaka.

  • I have a 6.5 with the mum on it same maker

  • if i am right i could be wrong to that is the 6.5x55 and thats a very popular hunting calibre here in sweden :)

  • As far as ww2 rifles I'll keep my 03 springfield and my garands thank you very much.

  • @CGTA1 The type 44 was issued to the calvary forces. Maybe thats why they chose to make the gun smaller with the sacrifice of firepower.

  • @Hickock45 Have you considered reloading your shells?
