I send both my boys to a montessori school. I couldn't be happier. I looked for an alternative education so my children didn't go through what I did. I clearly remember how I felt very smart before I started school. My first experience of feeling inadequate was in the first year. By the time I left school I felt like there was something wrong with me. That I was stupid and I couldn't read very well. This followed me through to my adult years.

Not only will discreet facts be forgotten over time...but there is also a huge rate of change (because of new discoveries, new technologies that allow us to describe the past with greater accuracy, changes in the population and environment, etc.).
Montessori helps to organize and process new information in ways that are relevant.
