Wong:
Take a look at this. An Argentine artist is unveiling detailed model ship made entirely of matchsticks. The model galleon spans over ten feet long. The seven year long project has been meticulously crafted with every detail present.

STORY:
Bernardo Casasola labored over it for seven and a half years. His patience surprised even him.

Thousands of matchsticks and hundreds of hours later Bernardo finally finished his latest creation. Before him stood a multi-deck galleon spanning ten feet six inches.

Spectators at the gallery in downtown Buenos Aires looked over the stunning details of the ship. Everything was there, from the anchors to the steering wheel to the crow's nest.

[Bernardo Casasola, Artist]:
When I want to be somewhere I just sit down and I can fix my gaze on what I do. I feel wonderful sensations. I can be anywhere in the world because I'm just working with matchsticks.

Casasola started making structures with matches when he was just 13. As the years went by the structures got bigger and more complex.

His guitars, banjos and violins amaze the eye. The display models can't be played, but Casasola says he can make working instruments out of matchsticks.

Next Casasola plans to create a thirty-three foot replica of the Titanic.

[Bernardo Casasola, Artist]:
I need a partner, like a co-pilot for an airplane or Formula One. This time I want to try to make the Titanic. I hope to find the right person to help me with this dream.

Casasola hopes galleon is the world's longest matchstick boat. Hes hoping the Guinness Book of World Records will take note.

  • @Zebred2001 shut the fuck up and make it better

  • The video is somewhat ambiguous. The model ship with the oars is actually a galleass...not a galeon.

  • 3 meters is 3 x 39" = 9 feet 9 inches this is longer

  • lol, good ship, but the narrator said, " steering wheel "!

  • seen better no offense

  • sorry this model is not the longest matchstick boat in the world. The longest is about 3 meters.

Wonderful work of art. God bless this man. I hope he achieves his goal of making the Titanic model.
