This video was taken a few days after Tristan's 4th birthday.

When Tristan was a baby, we used to read books with him at bedtime and he seemed to enjoy the routine. When he was 1 year old, he was already familiar with the stories of Joseph the Dreamer as well as The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse that he could already point to the characters when told. For instance, he could identify which one is Joseph or Jacob, and which one is Tom & Ramon!

On his 2nd birthday, he got his first board books (The Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio, and David) as birthday gifts. These were just short stories with simple rhymes and brilliant illustrations. He really love them that he wanted us to read them to him every time we go to bed. Soon after, he was able to memorize these books that he could certainly tell when a page was being skipped as we read! It was also through the simple words from these books that his reading skill was developed.

When he turned 3, his reading skill was improved as we introduced him to some longer stories. At 3 years and 6 months, he was able to memorize the longer poem " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas", while learning to read new and more complex words from the story.
