Data protection: EU citizens' rights must be updates and upgraded - European Parliament

Every second, millions of EU citizens exchange data or give their personal records to others: every phone call, e-mail exchange, SMS sent and website visited is recorded. Consumers are usually asked to provide their personal data to get access to services such as newspaper subscriptions, education, banking and travelling. According to European Socialists and Democrats, EU rules on data protection must be "updated for new technological advances and upgraded", as the European Commission unveiled new draft legislation to strengthen citizens' data privacy rights. @ abby1ryan Thanks for you comment. Showing this campaign appear to us as a simple (and actually good) way to introduce our subject. Nothing populist here, just reminding everyone that if S&D are fighting for the protection of personal data, it's because the accomplishment of some of our ordinary daily activities involve a part of risks. We don't intend to bring an unnecessary pressure, our purpose is still the same.

I sad to see that the Socialists and Democrats are using this terrible piece of video from the European Commission in their reportage on what is a very serious matter. This video campaign of the EC is a right-wing scare mongering tool and S&D should not be replicating it! We cannot become populist just because it is easier. We cannot sink to the level of scare mongering! Make a proper video.
