    Was?

He is still very much a proud homosexual man, with perhaps a great deal more intelligence and intellect than the entire state of Texas put together.

How much bravery it must have took to come out as a homosexual man in that decade?

  • I heard Gore Vidal say, when asked about the death of his longtime partner

    Howard Lang, this:

"A great lifetime relationship between two men is only possible when sex

    never enters into it."

That statement may upset some who live the "gay lifestyle" and idolize Gore

    Vidal, but HE'S RIGHT.

Male/female marriages and same gender relationships as well DON'T LAST

when they are based almost solely on sex.

A LTR has to be based on friendship & mutual respect as well as love, not

    just "LUV".

  • @ToulacAxeHand I wish more people shared your views. I never understood why a person's sexual orientation should garner the mass attention it gets. It is all about sex. I can say that I loved some male friends as much a women but not in a sexual way. Why highschools feel the need for club's that deal in sexual preferences is beyond my comprehension. Say pedophilia or bestiality become mainstream, will there be bestiality support groups in schools? Thats why it should remain private business.

  • @ToulacAxeHand

We agree, though you don't understand Kinsey (or Gore). K stated that there are few who are attracted to one sex alone. The "Kinsey Scale" is a 1-7 measure of this, with the interior values being a certain level of bisexual attraction, and where most of the population falls. Thus, to take up Gore's view, judging someone (or oneself) based on sexualtiy is a base, shallow, and empty pursuit. Most of the time it's nothing but gross locker room talk.

  • @gonzoredux

Homosexuality is something that has occured long before the existence of Kinsey. Whether the Conservative mindset acknowledges homosexuality (attraction to someone of the same-sex, through love and devotion - not just sexual acts) is completely irrelevant and really doesn't concern me. I'm openly gay, and do not base my genetic make-up on the theories of deluded psychologists like Kinsey and Freud, but rather I understand my sexuality as something existent in mother nature.

  • @ToulacAxeHand

He is not "a homosexual man". To paraphrase the man himself, there are homosexual acts, but to call someone homosexual is ludicrous. Such a Kinsey-based ida is still too much for most people to comprehend, from PC liberals on right.
