Free Tibet Now

• Over 1.2 million Tibetans have died as a direct result of the Chinese invasion and occupation of Tibet.
• Tibetans are not free to openly practice their religion and culture.
• The Chinese government is controlling internet content and international media.
• Vast and precious natural resources are being extracted from Tibet.

A new, independently produced music video advocates for a Free Tibet Now. The music video weaves together the singer/songwriter, known as "Liberation Dakini," with footage of non violent protests for Tibetan freedom, which have taken place in New York in recent months. Ven. Palden Gyatso, a Tibetan monk who survived 33 years of torture and imprisonment by the Chinese government, appears in the video with various members of Students for a Free Tibet.

The music video challenges us to remain critical of China's human rights record, even though the staging of the upcoming Olympic games could be considered the world's tacit approval of China's politics. But this particular Beijing Olympics seems to have ignored human rights violations, and cast aside the open right to freedom of information and thinking. Some people are taking notice.

The music video aims to inspire the pubic to support freeing Tibet and to contemplate what freedom really might mean for both a free Tibet as well as a free China.
