Jane Portalupi and Tim Borges began Portalupi Wines in 2002 after traversing the premium wine business for many years. Their wines are inspired by their rich Italian heritage and expressed through Tim's artistic and statement style of winemaking. The goal is to produce flavorful, intense wines that define the Portalupi style.

Portalupi's philosophy is based on the family's history of wine making and passion for food. Marina, the matriarch of the Portalupi family began making wine in the late 1800's in the Piemonte region of Northern Italy. She embraced life and created special moments with her family and friends simply by stopping her day and sharing a sip of wine and a little spuntino (snack) to reflect on all that is good in life. She felt that "Wine was meant to be enjoyed every day".

Today, Portalupi honors the love that Marina had for life expressed through food and wine. They have adapted a simple yet daring approach to food pairings in the tasting room. Think Pinot Noir and butterfingers, Jug wine and Cheetos, Bianco and Pringles. And, taken to a more grandiose level, Duck Confit and Baby Back Ribs. Your experience at Portalupi will have you embracing their basic premise that "Wine is meant to be enjoyed every day, with everyday foods".

Tim and Jane have taken a leading edge approach to their tasting room by offering the latest in technology to stay "connected". They offer charging stations for all of your personal devices along with Ipads for your inquisitive and last minute searches. You will naturally want to nestle into their striking purple couches and enjoy the contemporary décor while you sip a glass of your favorite wine.....mine just happens to be the Barbera (one of the very best I've ever had!) but of course, they have many "greats" to choose from including: Russian River Valley Old Vine Zin, Dry Creek Valley Zin, Sonoma Valley Zin, a Pinot Noir and a wonderful Bianco!

They also offer wine education courses taught by Tim Borges himself, who shares his vast knowledge of winemaking gleaned by his 30 years in the industry.

You will be personally greeted by Tim and Jane when you visit the tasting room and can pick their brains with all your winemaking wonderments.
