Multi-award winning television series JENNIE LADY RANDOLPH CHURCHILL THE COMPLETE SERIES (12), starring the wondrous Lee Remick, will be released by Network on 27th July 2009.
Jennie Jerome was the vivacious, intelligent and beautiful American who married the son of the 7th Duke of Marlborough. She named one of her sons Winston, who went on to become the most celebrated and esteemed British politician of all time, Winston Churchill. Jennie Jerome subsequently Lady Randolph Churchill became immsensely popular in Londons high society upon her arrival from America. Her charm and social skills ensured that she remained a firm hit long after her marriage. It was at her much coveted dining table and saloon that the young Winston met and conversed with the most brilliant political figures of the time. Being a lady of sharp mind, Jennie not only recognised her sons genius for politics, she nurtured and fostered it with great love, care and attention. Sir Winston would repeatedly pay homage to her energy, courage and dedication throughout his life.
Her astonishing portrayal of this great lady earned Lee Remick a BAFTA and a Golden Globe for Best Actress. First screened in 1974 as part of ITVs commemoration of Churchills centenary year, this stunning production not only charts all the major events in Jennies life; but it is done with much affection and truth. The lavish, award-winning costume designs and the breathtaking locations including the family home, Blenheim Palace lend a striking authenticity. This is the story of a remarkable lady told lovingly and respectfully by a faultless cast, crew and award-winning director Cellan Jones.
This was a wonderful series which I caught when it originally ran on television (and will be looking forward to adding to my collection). Excellently written, acted and photographed, and provides a private and literate look into a major political family in Britain. If possible, try to see another mini-series, THE FIRST CHURCHILLS, before watching this one.

They were short of a baby to play the part of Winston Churchill.I was the Head Chef at the time and Claire our daughter had just been born, she played the part of Chuchill being christened in the Chaple at Blenheim. We had to have an urgent Christening in Woodstock as she would have now been called Winston Lenard Spencer Churchill had she been christened on film. Happy Days
