Blackstar HT-5 Head through a Harley Benton 2x12 cab (2 x Celestion Vintage 30 speakers) I played an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Zakk Wylde (Korea 2006), straight into the amp. Recorded with a Shure PG-58 (not the best choice, I know) through a Line 6 Toneport UX-2 (no PRE, AMP, CAB or FX on, plain dry), edited with Windows Movie Maker. All clips were recorded with VOLUME at 9:00. Most of the unwanted clipping is due to post production issues, and the hum and hiss are my guitar's fault (the pickups have become microphonic, god knows why...) Very few leads, I apologize. Great little amp, IMHO. Hoping that this could help you, enjoy.

  • What type of mic are you using cus when you play the overdrive channel it sounds not very powerful which it does in person

  • @GuitarmanIeuan I used a Shure PG-58. If you want to hear a proper recording of the od channel check out my other video:

Blackstar HT5 - Heavy sounds (with drums)

It's in my channel. The details are in the description.

  • I'm a bit worried.. I play really really often metallica songs, and when you play enter sandman I think it really misses gain... Does the ht-20 have more gain or is it the same ? And should I keep my amp and use a distortion pedal or can this amp suit me ? thanks

  • @RoxxorBidoune I cant' remember if the HT-20 has any more stage of distortion, but you can easily check online. I think that this one can be easily pushed with some od or distortion pedal to nail any Metallica song, I think the amount of gain is decent. I don't know which kind of amp you got, I suggest this one for home and studio use by people in a budget - but - in search of a good valve tone.

  • when u are playing enter sandman, is the gain at full already? Or there are still more gain yet to get cranked?

  • @xboxmaniac69 The gain there is at 10.

  • I jam my head through an orange celestion sounds amazing!!!!!

  • they have very different valves. ht5 has a 12bh7, and ht20 has el34. also ht5 only has one preamp valve and the ht20 has two. i'd take the ht20 if i were you. much better for band practice gigs, and its quiet enough to play at home.

  • @Thoorvault

I think sound wise they must be quite identical. I'd go for the HT20, more versatile for band rehearsing and even small gigs. The 5 watter is only for your flat or studio. I'm thinking of an upgrade too...

  • Soundgarden!!! YES!!!!!! NICE RIFFIN!
