Getting the Ice King dialed in. Have been having issues with the governor cutting down on top rpm, almost have it adjusted to where I would like it. Jetting is also still a little off. Combination of the two is why it still runs a little rough on top end while under load, but hope to get that fixed before next time.

  • i have a 8" manual auger i got from my grampa but the damn thing seems to slip away in every direction before i can even start making a hole in the ice. I checked the blades and they seem pretty sharp, but i noticed your auger has got a a tip to keep it centered, any ideas or knowledge on them manual bastards? or am i just retarded...

  • @SiG0uin My old 8" hand auger does the same thing. Only thing that helped was to practice keeping the auger exactly perpendicular to the ice when starting a cut.

  • haha i think this is the first gas powered auger that would beat me at tapping a hole with a hand auger.

The other day this guy pulled out a brand new 8" gas auger and i had my 2 year old 6" auger with blades from last year, we were on 8" off ice i beat him and had my hole cleaned out by the time he was done tapping :)

  • @burtonkidd I got a 6" auger a couple years back and it cuts SOOO much faster than my old 8" mora. Just have to hope you don't catch anything too big for the hole!

  • brilliant usage of applied knowledge adding danger and intrigue to a drinking sport

  • @speedmachine69 Epic comment... *golf clap*

  • @BigRedEraser I have to agree. I found out the hard way. Unless you are experienced with sharpening blades, give it a try. but i found out I can't sharpen auger blades.:D The drill wandered, made snow instead of ice chips. They felt really sharp but really weren't. Enough to shave a chunk of meat off my finger on accident. haha Spent thirty bucks for a new set and its like day and night difference. :)

  • @SiG0uin YOUR BLADES ARE DULL. Although they feel sharp to the touch they no longer have the correct edge angle to cut efficiently through the ice. Anytime your auger starts to wander around it's time to change the blades. Buy a blade cover after you change your blades. Your auger will stay sharper longer. New blades AND blade cover will run you around 30 bucks.

  • @toocheaptosmoke

Yeah we tap to holes side by side to get a 12" x 6" hole.

  • very nice. envy of the ice neighborhood.
