NO, their commanders and high ranking officers where the dumb ones, the soldiers only follow orders.
-
But the Sargent that had his finger frozen on the trigger was firing at a fix spot, and also there wasn't reinforcements other than the men defending the strip of land.

@thegrimreaper541 Of course it said so that place you looked it up. It is a classic
"Guadalcanal myth" But think about it. They said that he fired over 200 rounds after
he died. Al Schmidt was right there with him, why waste 200 rounds (i think also that
a belt of ammo is only about a 100 or 150 rounds anyway) if you could take control of the gun and do it many times more efficient yourselves? Also i know a guy that took
part in the Battle of the Tenaru.

@larserikgill what are you talking bout it did happen i looked that guy up and it did happen when he got shot he died instantly and his finger was still on the trigger firing at the japanese soldiers. so shut up abouut stuff you cant prove
-
Haha. All that Rivers stuff is just not true.
He was killed by a burs of MG fire to the chest from the east side of the Ilu River and
died instantly. His finger did not freeze on the trigger.
All heroic men but some of it did not happen.

@TheBasicStuff Captain Charles H. Brush, Jr. Company A of the 1st Marines.

@asianwannabeamerican good on ya mate, the military needs more mutual respect
-
The Johnny Rivers thing is NOT true!
He was hit by a full burst of Nambu MG fire, and he did NOT freeze his finker on the trigger!
-
what is the name of the gun the seargent was holoding at 4.20?
-
@bramanforever yeah, we can all agree the USMC is badass. but the Army in WW2 was, by no means, a bunch of pansies. ever wonder why they always get more Medals of Honor than the Marines? besides, it was the Army that took down Hitler. with all that said, I plan on becoming a Marine
-
now that's what I call death from the grave. that marine my have died but he was going to make sure he took some Japs with him!
-
even wounded marines can kick the jap's butt the army probly couldn't do that at their best .
It's a little World War 2 history.
