@psychosavant I clearly said "biggest MARKETING scam in history" You changed the scope of my argument by omitting that word, I didn't say anything about other scams. While my post might be a slight exaggeration, antioxidant vitamins and health drinks are a billion dollar industry and there are no scientific studies that have ever shown benefits of antioxidant therapies on health. If you want to refute that claim show me one peer reviewed scientific study that shows benefits.
Really? Biggest scam in history is it? Not a single scam is bigger? In ALL scientific studies? Are you sure? What about the scientific study of the frequency of asteroids classified as near earth objects? Or maybe you're just sensationalizing things worse than journalists and marketers because you want to sound smart. There is a problem with everything you mentioned in your comment, which is enough to discredit yourself and anything you say about science and biology.
Antioxidants are the biggest marketing scam in history.
Yes too many free radicals can be bad, and yes antioxidants will inhibit them... HOWEVER after millions of years of evolution our bodies do the same thing. And our bodies converts free radicals into neurotransmitters like nitric oxide. Antioxidants in small amounts are fine, but too many antioxidants have been shown to increase mortality rates in all scientific studies done.
