This is Downers Grove (Main) to LaGrange (stone)

Okay people. I have been getting comments that suggest that I am the engineer. I am not an engineer, I am a railfan. I am standing at the end door of the front cab car. Since there is no car in front of this one, you see out ahead. The engineer's cab is above me. The end door is where you move to another car and they all have windows on them. Inbound Metra trains use what's called a cab control car. These are coaches with cabs in them. This is so the locomotive can stay on one end and allows for more efficient operation. These videos are only possible on inbound trains because the locomotive will hinder your view on outbound trains.

I'd just though I'd clarify for you all.

  • yea whats up with runnin @ speed with only a bell and no toots? especially on a "racetrack"?

  • @cruzinwrx This line runs through a place called the Chicago Area, where whiners and sissies live. Because people bitched incessantly about the horns, they are not prohibited except in emergencies from blowing the horns. Despite the fact that often times, pedestrians will play chicken with the trains (especially in Downers Grove and Berwyn!)

  • Metrolink in LA doesn't let you ride up in the very front of it's cab cars anymore because of accidents that have proven the Cab Cars lesser durability compared to a locomotive. I assume this isn't the case with Metra?

  • @phillyslasher Most Metra lines lock out the cab cars except on the UP (former CNW) lines. Also Metra gets so much priority around here, there is hardly a train in front of them to hit!

  • clean your camera lens .please !!!!!

  • @crazyjoe1148 My camera lens isn't the problem, it's Metra's dirty ass windows.

  • @5292Nate its happend in downers grove back in the 80's before metra back when it was still BN and they had their own passenger trains some lady got taken out and its on YT

  • @staintedcards Right. That would be hard for a railfan to forget seeing.

  • @5292Nate just give the horn a couple toots nothing long just too keep folks on their toes cause there is always gonna be some dumbass that will ignore the gates and try and beat the train or somebody that wants too do sucide by train and fuck up rush hour

  • @staintedcards Free speech goes for horns too right?

  • @mt90945557 It's like they want to ruin it for us railfans. :-(

  • @mt90945557 but in places like blue island and bensenville, they'll honk

  • @mt90945557 Well that QZ through Berwyn has been in place as long as I can remember. And I grew up there in the '70's. So the quiet zone is nothing new. Oak Park ave is my old stomping grounds. Trains are just a way of life if you live along the racetrack.

  • is it Dash 8 BNSF?

  • wow, the bnsf is stronger than i thought! :)

  • @mt90945557 Despite the fact that I'm a Chicagoland resident, I loathe its reputation about being the breeding ground of impatient, rude sissies who keep busy 7 days a week, and it's horrible on taxes and stuff. Sadly, Wisconsin is getting a lot of quiet zones too, particularly in the bigger cities (Fond Du Lac, Waukesha, Burlington, Green Bay, etc...).
