If this is a scene from a movie shoot then that explains what and why the helicopter pilot was attempting such a stupid stunt plus the movie producer's insurance most likely covered the cost of the helicopter. Next time someone needs to do the math on the weight redistribution for the load a helicopter needs to pull with a boat in the water.

The pilot was just doing as he was told! This was actually a scene from a movie so why would a stranded boater need a helicopter? Not another boat instead?
