Chapter 31: Joe

I casually glanced around the cafeteria; I wondered who the Joe was at this school.
"Demi you coming tonight?" I heard someone yell at her. She whipped her head around smiled and nodded yelling back that she would be there. Soon her table was flooded with people sitting with her talking about the party asking her if she would go and what she would wear. I smiled lightly; she was me at this school. we had more in common than I thought. I started to tune into her conversation to see what they were talking about.
"NO! you cant wear that Demi is going to wear that!" I heard one of them scream
"But I bought it first" the other girl complained
"Too bad you cant wear that!"
"Tay, its not a big deal" she turned to look at the girl who had apparently committed an offense "we can both wear the same thing I dont mind" Demi told her sweetly.
Selena laughed in the girls face right, "well unless you want everyone to see Demi pulling off that outfit way better than you I would suggest you find something else"
I figured Id stop eavesdropping; their conversation was extremely trivial anyway. Instead I kept my eyes on Demi I watched her gracefully talk with her friends, and smile at them. God that smile was adorable. Then she looked at me. I didnt bother to look away I just held her gaze and smiled. She smiled back then looked down blushing slightly. I noticed her friend nudge her then motion towards me. Demi blushed yet again.
"Joe's looking at you" I heard on of them say.
"So?" she replied back
"Well hes hot invite him over!"
"He would have sat here if he wanted to, leave him alone" she glanced at me once more then looked away and resumed conversation. Lunch was over and soon the rest of the periods were coming to an end. I was so thankful, if I had to hear people gush about this party anymore I would vomit. I don't even think people got this rowdy over a party at my old school. I thought of Nick, Kevin and Dad and wondered if they'd be disappointed if they knew I was going to a party. I felt bad because I knew I was supposed to be getting better over here not going back to my partying ways I sighed and walked towards my locker. The students had evacuated the halls quickly all going home to get ready for tonight. There were only a couple of stray students walking the halls. Football practice was canceled today, because they literally thought everyone wouldn't show up because of this party. I thought that was ridiculous, my old school was way too serious about sports; if you missed a practice for a party you'd get shanked. I began turning the knob on my lock when I felt a warm pair of hands cover my eyes.
"Guess who" she said
"Demi, I cant see" I told her
She giggled and removed her hands then came to face me "whats up?"
"Nothing much how bout you?"
"I'm good, getting excited for this party" she said with a smile on her face
"Oh yeah, I still don't know if I'm going"
She sighed "okay, let me know if you change your mind" she said turning towards her locker.
"Hey, If I go you owe me a dance!" I yelled after her
She turned around with a smile on her face and yelled back :No doubt" then continued to walk towards her locker. I got back to the rehab center and did my group therapy thing, then I talked to a counselor one-on-one and did my homework. Before I knew it, it was ranging closer to 11:00pm, the party had definitely started.
