Newspaper delta kite - Újságpapír delta sárkány

A Fodros utcai iskola (Csillaghegy, Budapest) udvarán B Tomi figyelembe véve a rossz körülményeket - fák meg épület - tekeri a csak is újságpapírból, celluxból s varrócérnából készült delta sárkányt.


Ezt a csodálatos sárkányt Öreg Miki honlapján találtam ( http://oregmiki.freeweb.hu/ujsag.htm ). Sajnos a a forrás megjelölése hiányzott. Sok időmbe telt míg végre nyomára akadtam Gary Engvall ( http://members.cox.net/gengvall/ ) segítségével. Ő Richard Dermert - hadani AKA elnök ( http://www.drachen.org/journals/a13/Richard-Marti%20Dermer.pdf ) is megkérdezte, látta-e valaha a csatolt rajzot. Nos, Richard emlékezett rá. Ími, ezt válaszolta Garynek:

Hi Gary,

I know this kite well. It was originally called the DK Delta, for Florida AKA member Dennis Kucmeroski), who invented it. He published the plans in the Jan, 88 Kiting, calling the kite the "Comic Flier" since it is most colorful if made with the funnies.

I didn't like the graphics which came with the Kiting article, so I redrew the plans by hand and printed them for my own distribution on one sheet, front and back. I'm sending you a copy by snail mail. I've handed out hundreds of this plan over the years.

I've made this kite on several occasions. The most memorable was sitting on the beach at Galveston at a judges' table with virtually no wind on a Sunday morning. I whipped out scissors and scotch tape, built one in front of several kiters, and flew it out of my hand into the sky without ever getting up from my chair. It's a great low wind kite, but pretty fragile. It is a little stronger if you can leave the dowel rod inside the spreader tube.

One bad result: Marti and I once decided to teach this kite to a bunch of senior citizens. Mistake. Elderly, arthritic fingers have a hard time rolling the paper tubes tight enough.

Sideline: Inventor Dennis was a well known stunt flier in the late 80's/early 90's who sewed two extra sleeves with gloves onto a shirt, stuffed them with something and attached them to the bottom of his quad line handles so it looked like he was flying a four string kite with four arms. Great crowd pleaser; I watched children just amazed by the sight.

This is also flyable at indoor events in gyms."
