What characterized Jesus was his humality and conviction, not a machismo uncompromising character. In fact no where in the NT will you find an idiolized image Jesus was a man's man. He did not roll down dirt roads in a chariot or a horse. He rode a donkey into Jerusalem. His strength was his sense of justice and charity. No one feared Jesus, they loved him or hated him. The only beings who feared Jesus were demons.

Jesus also rebuked Peter when he hit a guy with his sword, and he said 'turn the other cheek' when someone strikes you. Jesus never told his disciples how to 'act manly'--you need a larger perspective than what Driscoll says.

You need both perspectives. Including the one that shows us Jesus didn't just roll over every time he was challenged or confrontation was needed. The church is filled with men who are cowards, confrontation-avoiders, peace-at-any-pricers. Driscoll's emphasis is desperately needed. Being a godly MAN does not mean being a bully, but is sure doesn't mean being the wimp we see typifying, too often, males in the body of Christ (and, of course, all throughout our "Men-Stink" culture.)

And also to the female preachers polluting the church and teaching them how to behave...
Woe to the church who doesn't put its men ahead. It does it purposely. God knows the reason as He reads the heart.
