  • I have nothing against Scientology's beliefs, I am only concerned when the Scientology organisation harms and exploits people. Religious freedom does not allow an organisation to use child labour and deny these children an education.

  • Scientology's child labor law violations (as well as other violations of employee laws) are now the subject of a lawsuit.

    Larry Brennan writes:

"On January 5, 2009 a complaint was filed by attorney Barry Van Sickle on behalf of Marc Headley in the Superior Court of the State of California.

It was filed against the Church of Scientology International and Does 1-20.

It has to do with major labor code violations"

  • This is disturbing. Thank goodness my life is not so empty and pathetic that I would have to turn to such a religion to sap me of my money and enslave my own children.

  • Get them while they're young and dumb, that's the trick...

  • eso existia? pense q era un invento de south park xD

We already know about both problems, Scientology is a lot closer to home, at the forefront of society. IE its easier to get people motivated and to do something about it. We all know our clothes are made in sweatshops, few have the time or means to do something about it.

  • @MudHut67 No, for sure - but who's saying that we should? The police are devoting about 6,000 x more money and attention to this than to the much broader and more serious abuse of children that backs the profits of our industrial giants. I figured the Scientologists' evil already had its fair share of exposure, so why not point people to organizations that expose the much larger and more pervasive problem?

  • @musicalidea

That still doesn't mean we should ignore this case of child abuse. That is the one fallacy with these kinds of arguments.

  • The Western consumer is so quick to denounce these high-profile abuses but doesn't care a whit about the egregious forms of child labor and sweatshop labor that underlie his or her clothes, toys, household appliances, electronics and consumables. Visit the National Labor Committee or Labour Behind the Label to learn about the real tragedy of wasted human potential that underlies the profiteering of the world's largest & richest retail corporations.

  • Reason, NOT Blind Faith. Spirituality, NOT Pseudoreligion.

  • I thought he was going to say:

Remember, this rambling loon is revered by Scientologists. Instead, he used the word "raconteur."

  • Well if Tom Cruise wasnt known and had money, he wouldnt have been David mistakes best friend.

  • @poloniawarrior Showing the vile underbelly of any organization religious are not isn't hate inspired. Its the freedom of information that we require. What % of ex scientologist who speak badly about the religion they once loved are lying? Now what % of current scientologist will lie for the cult? :D

  • @poloniawarrior So takeing away free speech would be very favorable to the cult of scientology? How interesting.
