So yeah, this is the longest video I've ever uploaded, but it's also a test of my new microphone before I start doing more commentary videos, to see if you guys like how it sounds.

Settlers of Catan really is a fun game, it's mostly a mental game though rather than action, so if you don't like slow, strategy-paced stuff, this probably isn't the game for you.

I'm sorry, but I know I can teach this game better. Lands & Anchors? Resources & Ports. How about starting at the beginning, and plan out the lesson. Thumbs up for the game, thumbs down for the lessons.

@FascistFrenchman you may be able to teach it better, but as far as I know, there's no "definite" name for these, as i've seen players refer to them as lands and anchors, and wool/sheep/grass, wheat/corn, mountain/stone/ore, so forth.

Also, it's rather hard to give "planned" lessons when you're showing the context of how a game actually plays out, which IMO, is a lot better to show (aka actual flow of gameplay) than trying to cut it up into pieces that might confuse a new player even more.

Catan is a great gateway game for real boardgames. If you liked Catan, you should play Agricola, Dominion (card game), Yomi, Brass, Twilight Struggle, Hansa Teunica, Puerto Rico, Ra, Race for the Galaxy, Ticket to Ride.

@JamesThePhox I haven't played the others on there, but IMO Ticket to Ride seemed like an exceptionally broken/shallow game, or maybe it just felt that way? It didn't seem to have nearly the depth that Catan did, I remember playing it and winning nearly every game and needing almost no strategy to do so 0_o it seemed like it was just basics + a hell of a lot of luck involved
