Footage taken of Ardmore NZ 1958 Grand Prix by my late grandfather.
The race was won by Jack Brabham (Cooper F1). He was followed home by Ross Jensen in the Stirling Moss Maserati 250F, 1956 NZGP winning car. Then Ron Roycroft in a blue Ferrari, then Christchurch driver Pat Hoare in a recently-acquired Ferrari 625. Then Roy Salvadori in a Connaught. Also in the race were Archie Scott-Brown in a Lister Jaguar, Bib Stillwell, in the ex-Hunt disc-braked Maserati, and Arnold Glass, making his first appearance in the ex-McMillan, ex-Parnell Super Squalo Ferrari.
I remember in the late 1950's Archie Scott-Brown visited my junior school at Longstanton near Cambridge, He brought his racing car to our open day. Shortly after he died in a racing car crash.

Wonderful footage, thank you for posting this!
Can anyone identify the weird looking car at 2:00 which has a huge extension out the back? Is that some sort of aero aid?

A couple of good shots of the late, great Archie Scott-Brown chucking the Lister Jaguar around - all with deformed legs, and no right hand to speak of. But a wide grin, an amazing handle-bar moustache and a bucket of brave-pills were all he needed.
