@22013 Nicole Kidman started in the early 80's too. But regardless that has nothing to do with anything :S He also has done Australian TV not just American. My guess is he is speaking with an american accent because its good to stay in character when you have to speak it 24/7 for an american role. The likely hood of him naturally speaking with an american accent over an australian one is not likely at all. It may be habit but thats all

@22013 I dont think so. Cate blanchett, heath leadger, Nicole kidman, delta goodrem & hugh jackman are all very well acknowledged Australian actors that have been (or were) in the industry for a long time. They have all retained their Australian accent even after living in the US for a considerable amount of time (esp. Heath ledger when he was alive so It does not make sense what you are saying.

@MissPonderosa because when he came to the state he began talking with an american accent to get more jobs as an actor. But sadly he completly lost his australian accent. He can pretend to have an australian accent but now the american accent is his normal accent now.
