  • Voxampguy appears to be a democrat

  • Yes, George Romney is related to Mitt Romney. George Romney is Mitt Romney's father. George Romney was Governor of Michigan from 1963-1969 and served as Secretary of Health Education and Welfare under President Richard Nixon.

  • George Romney was absolutely right. The American people were lied to about Vietnam. Former Secretary of Defense for Johnson, McNamara, has publicly apologized for the lies, mistakes and hundreds of thousands of American casualties in Vietnam----ll for nothing. France left Vietnam and told the USA not to get involved since it was an internal civil war and not a cold war conflict. Eisenhower felt the same way. Lots of Americans do not know the facts or history. Romney=Teddy Roosevelt leader

  • I liked George Romney. I met him at a political rally (in Michigan), in 1966. He had some ideas that firmly transcended mormonism: and, for that, one of the Big Whig Honchos from his LDS Church, in Salt Lick City, utah--one Elder Delbert L. Stapley--wrote Governor George a letter, in January of 1964 (some short months before the civil rights movement really started rolling forward) that essentially told George that something might happen to him, if he didn't distance himself from "The Negro".

  • Someone get a time machine and switch Mitt and George Romney.

  • Most importantly, George was president of AMC from 1954-1962.

  • @wescubed According to Wikipedia "the first Congress of the US in 1790 passed legislation stating: 'The children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens of the United States.'"

Putting aside the crazy Kenya stuff, the eligibility questions over Barack Obama have to do with his father's British citizenship. It's ambiguous whether he's a natural-born citizens under common law.

  • We need this guy as President.

  • He seems more comfortable with himself than his son does now. It's as if George ran on the basis of who he actually was, whereas Mit seems to be totally managed by his handlers. That worked ok for Reagan, because as an actor without any great intelligence he was very comfortable simply taking directions. Mit, by contrast, seems bright enough to appreciate the nuances that he tries to avoid.

  • @voxampguy What are you talking about? The apple fell into a different dimension in this case.

  • Give George Romney credit for this: Unlike a lot of today's Republicans, he was willing to admit a mistake.

Unfortunately, unlike his father, Mitt was all too often right the first time (on health care, gay rights, reproductive freedom)... and then changed his mind so he could be President. He's already gotten closer than his father ever did, but his primary opponents are already giving Obama the ammo to annihilate him.
