  • @jpf8985 I completely concur. Especially with the Music for the Morning After assessment. His follow up albums' lack of greatness have kept the first one from being remembered that well, but it was fantastic.

  • Good cover,thanks

  • bruces version is awesome and petes is awesome too in a different way. the lyrics are just great.

  • this is good but bruces is better, ppl keep compaining tht this is better as an acoustic song but if u listen 2 magic (which is an amazing album), its a rock album and an acoustic version like petes wudnt really fit with the rest of the album

  • I don't think that Pete is infallible, but he has made some well-above-average work. Musicforthemorningafter, his first album, is great! IMO, one of the best folk-rock records, this decade. His voice does have a laziness to it when you compare it to Bruce in the 70's and 80's. But, there isn't much passion in Bruce's version of this song either. I thought it was a total filler on Magic, and I think Pete did it justice, especially with the solo arrangement.

  • Ne1 who doesn't think Nebraska could be covered should listen to Levon Helm's (drummer for The Band) doing Atlantic City. I think there's a version on Youtube that has him and Sam Bush doing it at merlefest. BLEW ME AWAY! That is one of the few songs I would say is better than the original.

I do think that Springsteen should record an acoustic version of this song and release it, cause it works much better acoustically then electrically

  • lol i really laughed when i read this... the thing about bruce is his imense passion with his deeply rugged and soulful voice, this guy is average at a push no passion in his voice at all but if you like plain and mediocre music each to there own...

  • I hear ya. I can appreciate what you're saying. After all, Brooce posted it for us all to enjoy.

  • Scratch that. Anything pre-"Nebraska." I think that songs from "Nebraska" are tailor made for Pete to cover.

  • I can appreciate your purist view on Bruce's songs, but it's a mediocre song -- for Bruce. This song is much better acoustically. He knew not to cover a song that should not be covered (anything from "Nebraska" and earlier) Pete was good at one time -- his original material is getting consistently worse. He's definitely the artist best suited to cover Bruce, though.
