The U.S.A. and Canada together constitute a high tech society of continental dimensionone in which the operation of our society is dependent on a vast array of installed technology and a high rate of energy conversion to run it. It is a continent-wide structure, a high energy machine, providing the means whereby we live. It is manned by an army of engineers, scientists, technicians and operators of many kinds, without which it would not continue.

Any serious interruption of this high-energy, high-velocity structure and its staff, which are our life support, would quickly result in massive loss of life and an irreversible collapse of our industrial society. The instabilities now developing in the financial structure plus the twin crises of Peak Oil and Global Warming threaten just such interruptions. Such an interruption cannot be allowed to happen.

But now, in 2008, it appears that such an event is probable. With Peak Oil, (peak energy) and the Global Warming crisis now developing, it is becoming ever more apparent that our present form of economy and our present form of governance are structurally incapable of taking effective action. A new administration, a Plan B, is called for by an ever increasing and vocal group of writers, scientists, legislators, and ordinary citizens. Technocracy, we submit, is that Plan B,' enabling a continuance of the technology, with its operating staff, that will ensure our survival. Here then is the raison detre for Technocracy, the Core Concept that defines it.

  • Technocracy NOW let's keep spreading the word on technocracy. Thanks for the video.

  • Politicians, industrialists and businessmen created the mess we find ourselves in today. The path back to a rather sustainable life will be very troublesome but has no alternatives.

  • I think that we should have technocratic prerequisites in order to run for office, just as someone needs extensive medical prerequisites to perform surgery on your brain.

  • Technocracy! not capitalism

  • If only resources were infinite...

  • Dear Sir,

    You Rule!

  • Dear Sir,

I am very sure that Technocracy has to become the next generation of politics. If we do not switch over from the political ideologies to technocracy we are heading for a world crash. Sustainability is not an option as long we have a growing world population.

Why not start working on installing a technocracy party in every single country in the world, within the current democracies.

I am currently thinking of creating the basics for a technocracy party in Belgium.

  • A brilliant video!

With a lot of important points which needed to be said.

The sooner Technocracy is established the better.

  • @PushItAway No. You have this confused with something unrelated. Your completely wrong. Read the information on related sites. This is NOT connected to Capitalism or Communist Adam Smith Economics of scarcity~!~ ... glorification of human toil. Please read Technocracy technate to get an understanding of this material.

  • @PushItAway your not getting the subtle and important difference my friend. There is no ownership. There is no public ownership. There is no political state. This is a non political or ideology system... science based. Thermoeconomics in a non market social design based on energy. Not remotely connected to communism or capitalism.

  • @TBonePickensetc How can you have a production facility distributing commodities without ownership? By public ownership I mean ownership in the hands of the state made public property. There is no individual ownership of the means of production but individual ownership in possesions such as food, clothes etc.

  • @TBonePickensetc The technocratic view of energy accounting takes the same form as the marxist view that the value of a commodity is determined by the socially neseccary time required for production. This means a commodities value is determined by the labor power expended in producing it. I do not see how the system of energy accounting is compatible with capitalism at all.
