**Feet cleaning ceremony: The wife cleans her husband feet. The groom give a money envelope to the bride and the bride enters a room.

In this ceremony, currently married couples are asked to gather in a circle around the bride and groom. Three candles are lit and handed from person to person. Each participant passes his or her right hand over it in a sweeping motion towards the couple, sending or throwing a silent blessing to them. Only married couples are asked to participate, as it is believed that they will pass along the special quality or essence which has preserved their union. The candles are passed around the Popil: Candles light seven times to circle clockwise complete the ceremony.
**Pithi Jong Dai ceremony: First, the groom is invited to greet the parents and the elderly people. A musician sings song and dances in front of the brides room. When he has finish he says Chay hang! Sous hang! A woman takes the brides hand and lead her out of the room. Jong Dai: Put the red rope around the wrist

  • @SkylineToTheSeaAndMe : hehe.... you got the point. anyways, it just pretend to clean. if it's in reality, cleaning the feet with socks must be a problem :D

  • I think cleaning the feet is fine. The problem is he has socks on 8^)

  • I agree with you, that's why our tradition khmer wedding is unique.

  • It is a special part if you know the meaning. first of all, the groom has to stand on the stone. it means the husband has to be patient, and take care of the wife. when the bride clean the groom's feet. it means respect and loving to the husband. i think there are more reasons that i don't know. i hope when you hear these reason, you might like this part. ;-D

  • I like this part...it makes cambodian wedding special and unique from all other. Loving ur husband enough to clean his feet...it doesn't make you any less of a woman...it's beatiful and sacred.

  • I really don't like this part... why the bridg has to clean the guy feets..??
