  • I think she did awesome for being 9 years old and handling a dog that is very high drive and is the same size or bigger than she is. I don't agree with schutzhund training, but as far as the girl did with handling the dog she did pretty dang good.

  • And how many handlers compete and do well in Schutzhund and still will only use +R only that you know? Or are they all agility trainers and competeters?

She did well for her age and having a high drive breed. A little off on corrections but she's learning

I honestly doubt any of those corrections "hurt" either. They did what they were supposed to do, correct and get the attention of a high drive dog

Well done, learning how to work with and train a dog at so young of age. Keep it up!

  • the germand shepherd breed is a tough breed. and anybody who has owned one would know this.`so when she hitd the dog or yanks on the colar it doesnt hurt the dog.

  • I really don't like the way she hits the dog and yanks up on his colar to get him to release who ever trained the dog must use fairly hard handling technique. Althought the dog is fairly obedient I'm notl impressed by the technique. I have Malinois and they don't need a hard hand, just the oposite. That's a Thumbs down from me.

  • This is amazing! It's great to see youths participating in dog sports!

  • Thank you so much for this video.

Anyone who wants to criticize her can bring out their own 9 yr old and do as well as she does.

As a 34 year year old who's also been training dogs since 9, I'd be happy to have her train with me.

And most important, it's nice to see that, hopefully, working dog sport might continue on here in North America.

    Best of luck little girl,

    Derek

  • What is she smacking the dog for near the end? I don't think that has anything to do with being a good handler. All the handlers I know use positive reinforcement. I think that dog is too big for her to be starting out with, she needs something that isn't six inches shorter than her, and again toward the end, the mouthiness on her part wouldn't be acceptable. "I Know" doesn't cut it. If she knew she wouldn't be doing it.

She's an ALL RIGHT handler, but I don't think I'd have her working for me.

  • Good job! It's always nice to see youth interested in dog sport. I bet I will see this youth handler on the podium somday, keep up the good work!!!!

  • Good video and Kudo's to the Child and dog.

  • This is absolutly priceless. Great kid and a great dog!
