Hope definitely brings her own awesome styling to this song, but I would love to hear it done by kendra as well. I disagree that Kendra has a better voice, but it definitely has its own appealing charm.

this is just pre-Mazzy. the story of how Hope took over from Kendra is interesting. And of course the fact that Opal was a Roback project as well. So really there is an entire continuity between Opal and Mazzy Star.
