The Monastery of the Holy Spirit is a Trappist monastery in Conyers, Georgia. John Martin, the emmy award winning editor, recorded video of the church and grounds of this beautiful facility. I was assigned to edit some of this footage as a homework assignment.

The opening bell is the monastery's own. Beginning with the handbell you hear the ancient (7th century?) Pange Lingua melody excerpted from Sing And Ponder, arranged by Larry Fleming. The next monastery bell introduces portions of the Hymn of Jesus by Gustav Holst, beginning with that same chant played by an English Horn, proceeding through some anguished chords and resolving into the closing phrase, "Glory to Thee, Holy Spirit. Amen."

Enjoy this video in high definition.

Criticism and comments on the editing are welcome.

  • This is brilliant.... one of my most favorite places! Well done!

  • @HopeforCatholics Not sure what grade school level anti-Catholic arguments are doing under this video, but God Bless You. You have much to know... pray... stay open... find some good sources of information - entire books exist to answer your little plucked sentences (some may be over a millennia old.)

p.s Jesus himself referred to Abraham as a "Father" in the Bible, but I don't want to get into the school yard silliness.

  • Pray and feast on the youtube videos by BEREANBEACON!

Mat 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

    PAUL

Romans 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin ONCE: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Heb 9:28 So Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

  • @gfseattle Lucky!!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Visiting this monastery has been a family tradition since the mid 50s. You could says I almost grew up there. I saw it grow from a barn to a magnificent monastery and truly a tribute to God.

  • I first visited this monastery about 24 years ago. What a wonderful place. When I was a graduate student at Emory, when I needed a place to go for solitude and rest, I would drive out to Rockdale County. As I drove up the long way from the highway to the gate, I could see the spire appear, and could just feel myself begin to "let go." Thanks for this.

  • I visited this monastery. Its full of monks that are incredibly humble men.

  • Very nice thankyou
