My 2006 Durango is in the shop now getting the fuel tank replaced under the "warranty". Been spewing gas for years now. 1700.00 repair.

Not one of Dodge's crowning achievements, they new Durango has alot of hope, these old ones are terrible though. Ugly, thirsty, and near pointless.

@qetuo1000 My brothers both own Honda's,one an 02' Civic Si (its needed tie rod ends, cv axles, a transmission) my other brothers got a 00' Civic, its needed everything from a starter, to a timing belt(which is a giant job on those cars, the entire top end of the motor needs to be removed.)Not to mention both cars are already rotting out even after being undercoated since new. Both brothers drive like old ladies, Ive never driven my vehicles easy. So I know what I'll continue to buy.

@qetuo1000 Seems to be quite hit and miss. Ive only ever owned Ford or Dodge cars and trucks, and ive had a few. The only major issue ive had was a bad auto transmission in my first car, a 93' Shadow. They were known for it tho. Ive own two Shadows, 4 Crown Victorias, 1 Ranger, 1 Bronco II, 2 Dodge Ram's, and an Escort, all had the usual wear items.

To be honest that's why i buy Nissan's only, ive owned 2 different nissan cars, altima 99 and maxima 10, you keep pumping gas, changing that oil and the occasional tire change and they run like a charm. i can remember the last time i took either one to the shop. my father on the other hand buys american, i can say maybe once every 2 months he's having issues with his vehicles. oh well.

There is a good thread on Dodge Forums (Search for "Gas fill overflow on my 06 durango" ) that talks about the steps to get some action either from your local dealer, Chrysler corporate, NHTSA.
I have tried my local dealer, NHTSA, and filed with safetyresearch net website. Still have the issue. At this point my wife and I only fill to part of the tank with gas.

My 2007 Durango started the same thing this past winter. I called my dealer after seeing your video. I was less than 300 miles before my warranty expired. The dealer said that they ran all of the tests on it and it was okay. My husband told the service manager that he knew that he knew what was going on with these vehicles. Once my husband mentioned the word "safety" concern, we received a new fuel tank free of charge.

@Digiclix Glad to hear the video helped. It would be really nice to have Dodge do something more public about this safety issue. I'm still working with Dodge to get them to recognize that the issue is a safety design issue and not a normal part failure for my vehicle.

I talked to my local dealership this weekend. They said that it was the fuel check valve and the only option is replacement. On the 2007 Dodge Durango that valve is contained in the fuel tank. The cost of the fuel tank for the 2007 Durango is $500, the filler neck is $140, and the labor would be about 1-1/2 hours. About a $700 fix. I'm going to contact the 800 number of Dodge customer service, to see they can help. Power train warranty on my vehicle is supposedly only 3 years or 36,000 miles.
