http://lmetcalf.com A very functional, smooth working Merlin Steadicam EASY DIY project for only $8.00 USD.
This version easily out does the glide cam, and makes a reasonable merlin cam.
Uses 1/8" x 1/2" steel bar, some nuts, bolts and a traxxas 1951 R/C U joint.
There really is no replacing a steadicam set up of you are going to take video or film... and think you will walk, run, move. I have improved the look and feel of all my moving video shots by using this simple and inexpensive tool.

  • Beyond all that problematic copyright and legal terms, you have made a remarkable camera stabilizer with a few bucks, that works pretty good in comparisson with professional models. Very remarkable indeed. Well done. Thank you for sharing this achievement with the community.

  • @frs2112 You're welcome.

I'm really not sweating the legalities, despite being baited by a single user repeatedly

  • are you selling these?

  • @dikmrof I am not

  • smh... I just realized I am feeding the trolls (impulsive behavior to respond)

  • well...240p we meet again

  • Thanks for making this video and explaining things about your stabilizer very well!! Ive been working on my own and what you said about where the gimbal is located and weight below=weight above fulcrum finally helped me to get it set up correctly. Now it works super awesome :)

  • very nicely done

  • Great video, thanks alot!

  • @sprattoo POW!!!

  • @4Firearms Right, as mentioned, When I work for the station I have access to and use their glide cam.

You are TOTALLY missing the point here.

This is a DIY for folks who AREN'T running on a monster budget and filming for high end production companies. This is for youtubers, indy film makers, public access folks, or whoever is making videos and doesn't want to crank out $800 for a Merlin (Which STILL is not for professional production either!!) The Merlins are also made for small handicams

  • @bryantwc123 glad it helped
