The perpetuation of racial and ethnic stereotypes by the media is an ongoing and real phenomenon that can be seen in children's entertainment television shows and movies. The problematic factor in these entertainment outlets is that there is clearly an inundation of racial and ethnic scripts presented to toddlers and adolescents at an age when it is difficult to be socially critical of these stereotypes. When images of a young Black-American boy speaking "street talk" who has a niche for dancing hip-hop well, or an Asian-American toddler girl with slanted eyes wearing a traditional kimono is shown in a cartoon, these racial stereotypes will flood the children's learning schema during these delicate and very impressionable years. Child psychology will provide several different theories in order to better assess how the learning schemas of racial and ethnic generalizations are being created at a very young age.

  • this is so silly... i would agree that the STEREOTYPES that the different ethnicities portray in some of these scenes are offensive but in others, there is simply just the presence of different ethnicities. this video has been poorly executed.

  • whats racist about Caillou

and it doesn't mean black girls are bad, or great. it's just 1 common trait of their character (again, majority, not all). just like most asian people tend to be shy and quiet.

nobody is trying to discredit you.

I am from eastern europe, and the stereotype is - we all are hunting rich western men, to get their citizenship. I personally don't. but unfortunately a lot of the girls do. and as much as it pisses me off, it's true.

so change yourself first, and don't blame the media.

there are tones of TV shows, films and other media, where white and Jewish people are portrayed in the negative light. as well as tones where black people are portrayed in positive. so cut the crap.

as for ignorant, i haven't met most black girls, just like you haven't met most white people to judge 'the way they really are' . I judge from personal experience, like everybody. And off all black girls I've met, I only remember one that didn't have attitude.

    All Media is advertising.

How ignorant are you...you haven't met MOST Black Girls!

These stereotypes are aimed at people like you, who actually take TV for reality.

You say stereotypes don't appear out of thin air, yet the way white people really are... is hardly ever portrayed in the media.

Neither do we see Jewish people portrayed in a negative light.

Surprise surprise... These groups control the Media.

Which proves stereotypes are created to discredit particular groups of people.

  • 3- stereotypes reflect the features and behaviour that a majority of a certain culture or race have, they don't appear out of thin air. whether u like it or not :

asian people DO have slanted eyes and put more effort in their studies; mexican traditional hat IS sombrero, most of black girls DO have attitude and black people ARE very good at dancing.and that's that. if u have problems with those things,go change them. if ur black -study kung fu, if u'r asian-dance hiphop!

  • 2. - and what do u suggest? if the cartoon is made by a white american, it should only portray white americans? aren't the cartoons suppose to educate kids about different cultures and races. or do u think they should have shown mexican mouse speaking with cleat texan accent, wearing a toga to confuse kids?

  • 1- ok, that Alladin song is harsh, now that i watch it 2day. but i grew up on Disney cartoons, and i loved Alladin, i don't remember those words in the beginning. what i remember is it had a very beautiful princess with a cool big tiger. the best thing about kids is they are innocent, and they don't search for hidden meanings. they will remember a funny mouse in a hat. not grow up thinking mexicans are lazy!

  • The Arabic song reminds me of Scar's song

    lazy

  • Nobody is saying we must flood African countries with mass immigration to make them more multicultural. Nobody is saying we must flood Asian countries with mass immigration to make them more multicultural. Nobody is saying we must flood South American countries with mass immigration to make them more multicultural.

Multiculturalism and mass immigration into White countries and White countries only is GENOCIDE.

Anti racism is a code word for anti White.

  • im a racist and i find this offensive.
