@MrFreelove69 Exactly what kind of action do you expect from a satanist?
-
Most Satanists are all mouth no action....LaVey no exception.
-
@satanicinternational I agree with you on the saving your money and not waste it on the CoS, Satan represents knowledge, read and read satan will say. Education=Satan

I have never seen the first edition in hardback of the Satanic Bible. I do have a 95 cent copy of the Avon's first edition of the Satanic Bible which does have the dedication page in it. I liked the select bibliography of The Compleat Witch. Some of the passages From The Devil's Notebook could be found in the Cloven Hoof (mid-1970's editions). I wrote Remembering Anton LaVey for the Thelema Lodge Newsletter (February 1998). I used Satanism to deprogram myself from Christianity's influence.

The Devil's Notebook is the one for me! I think you have to bear in mind what was around at the time - in the way of alternative books, I mean Anton certainly put Satanism 'out there' in the public domain, and really motivated people to explore Satanism, even by default the theistic side of Satanism, so all in all I support Anton and his work.

There is no REASON to think that about LaVey. Sure, Satan does represent the hidden/unknown force(s) in nature, but why should an impersonal force be elevated above the self when it is just that: impersonal and unknown? To suggest otherwise, you would have to make a lot of unfounded assumptions about the nature of reality. Likewise, you would have to make a lot of unfounded assumptions about LaVey to suggest that he would even subscribe to such notion. There is simply no reason to.

I agree with that. However, why co-opt a symbol when you're creating your own system? This negates the purpose of using 'Satan' as a symbol in the first place. It has no value on it's own.
Indulgence is primal. It's not a reaction to an outside influence.

Meaning he could have drawn an independent meaning for Satan rather than a dependent one. His Satanism was a REaction to Christian mores rather than being a self-defined metaphysic.
Z, you didn't understand the "doorman" analogy for what it was. As I said, he opened the door, but couldn't walk through - that makes him a doorman. What door? That of Satan as metaphysical reality (watch my Lord of Midnight video) rather than simply a team mascot. LaVey was overly reactionary (q.v. his focus on "indulgence") when he could've been truly proactive.

JK...Now is Lavey really an Atheist ?? I think not..He talks of Satan an unknown Dark force that influences the world? I have a feeling LaVey believed in a Master, but watered down his works to make them more presentable to the masses

Well in the beginning CoS was a "secret collage" an occult college with various studies and courses. Even now Steve Flowers teaches philology @ UTexas. He was ex CoS and ToS. ToS mind You was born from infighting amongst the Cos college on Deists Who were not looking for a Deity but found One and Atheist Satanists. Don't let time bury these strange truths.

Organized Religion is still Organized Religion. This has been Humanity's biggest Plague since it began long ago. World's Oldest Profession before Prostitution that came from Religion in Fact.
