There's a stark difference between patriotism and nationalism. Mr. Martin and Mr. Hartmann reflected America's true patriotism by knowing the full history of relations between foreign countries and what we did wrong. However, being in denial and refusing to reexamine historical facts that weren't easily available to the general public to learn is a common problem throughout America including. The CIA and other agencies know much about why resentment toward America exists than what we're told.
