oh my God, is the mother the girl who was Grace Polk on Joan of Arcadia? I think it is...wow I haven't seen her in forever! Can someone please tell me the name of that actress?

I think it is, at least I thought the same thing when I watched it. I don't know her name but I'm sure if you go to IMDB and type Joan of Arcadia in you could find out.
