Do you need a computer to use this or the new Tetr4? To do more complex things you'll need a keyboard, but does it have to be with a keyboard AND a computer or can you just plug the keyboard into the Mopho/Tetra and play like that?

"I used an MonoEvolver and I didn´t like it a bit, nothing to do with a Prophet VS, PPG, or Waldorf hybrid synths (or even Ensoniq SQ80/ESQ1), just thin, ugly sounds."

If you're getting thin, ugly sounds out of an Evolver, then you're not using it right. I'm just saying. The Evolver is more than capable of creating awesome, fat sounds, so obviously the problem was coming from the user end.

Hi, the problem was probably me, and I don´t want to sound like a troll, but to be honest, both the P08 and the Poly/Mono Evolver (I used a Poly last week) rely (on their presets) too much on unison to sound "fat", but that´s not the kind of "fat" I´m refering when I mention the Prophet VS, PPGs, etc. But nevermind, forget what I said.

In my opinion, while the Mopho is a sweet little box, the Evolver is capable of a lot more. The Evolver will create ridiculous, evolving sounds (hence the name) like you've never heard from another synth. If you spend some time with it, you'll be able to make most of the sounds the Mopho can make.

The thing I like about the Mopho, however, in addition to the lower price point, is the that the panel is a bit easier to tweak. I've got the Evolver but I'll get a Mopho, too.

The Evolver can also be used as an effects unit for guitar, voice, or whatever else you can plug into it. I'm not sure about the Mopho.

they are similar but from my understanding the mopho is geared more toward leads and bass and the evolver is more toward pads... i could be wrong in that assesment as I've only played with them a few times in nyc.

I see - well, I'd be more on board for the leads and basses. Nothing beats Absynth 4 for pads, in my opinion!
