Meet the new 'Freddy Krueger'

http://www.metromix.com | Jackie Earle Haley talks about stepping into the role of 'Freddy Krueger' in the new 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' film scheduled for 2010 release. The previous 'Nightmare' films starred Robert Englund in the 'Freddy' role. Haley played the 'Rorschach' character in 'Watchmen.'

The old Freddy (Robert Englund) was and always will be better. The Freddy Krueger essance (for lack of a better word) is, of corse, scary. But its also funny! One of his trademark lines, "WELCOME TO MY WORLD, BITCH!" is supposed to inspire fear AND laughter in his fans! One of my favorite lines EVER: Black guy: "I'll see you in hell!" Freddy: "Oh Yea? TELL 'EM FREDDY SENT YA!"

Of course the new Freddy is way different, but he's also creepy as fuck in his own way. I refuse to say which I think is better until I'm able to see more of this new guy's work. But I do love Robert Englund. He's amazing.
