"Socialism isn't perfect while capitalism is destructive."
Okay... that's an interesting assertion. Please elaborate on what you perceive as Socialism's primary imperfection, and then list one of Capitalism's flaws.
Wars make money, a lot of people make and produce millions of things needed for a war socialism is no better then communism, why do you want to give the goverment so much power

WHY don't you READ my COMMENTS carefully NEXT time? I'm NOT here TO write a doctoral THESIS for the BENEFIT of a left-wing NUMBskull FASCIST like YOU. You just want to SUPPORT THE CRIMINALS who currently occupy and have HIJACKED the houses OF congress. Now you're demanding FREAKING FOOTNOTES for WHAT should be OBVIOUS to ANYone with a BRAIN who's not a FASCIST!
I agree there is major fraud caused by the PRIVATE healthcare organizations that administer those program. This should be cleaned up and some insurance company CEOs should to major hard time in prison for that. You DID know that Medicaid is paid by the Fed, funded by the States and RUN by private insurers, didn't you? I would say taking it OUT of the known criminals in private insurance would decrease waste. Finally the OBAMA AG has been cracking down on these crooks, like BUSH's brother.
"Suspected waste" By WHOM, conservative Republicans? The Health insurance companies? C'mon, I cite my sources. What about the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS being spent right NOW by corporations for employee healthcare? What about the INCREASED competitive advantage they will have? What about the TRILLION dollar saving by ENDING the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.BUSH's own Sec. of the Treasury, Paul O'Neill in "Price of Loyalty" estimated to total cost of those wars to be ELEVEN TRILLION.
"GAO estimates that the healthcare reform will REDUCE the deficit "
Only after Pelosi and Reid pulled out Medicare increases to put in a separate bill. This is worse than my wife coming home from a big shopping trip telling me how much money she's saved me! Furthermore, you're excluding the approximately $300B in tax increases introduced through the bill. So, where's the savings?!
I know that Lincoln can be attributed with the end of slavery, and thank God, but he really compromised the Constitution. I wish that he had pushed first to amend the constitution first with whatever provisions were necessary, but instead he suspended Habius Corpus and squashed the important provision of secession. I'm glad the US remains a union of the original states, but I think we'll continue to pay for the latitude he took.
And here are some numbers for you: Suspected waste, both Medicare and Medicaid: $47 billion + $18 billion = $65 billion
Proposed gov. health plan: est. between $870 billion and $1.2 trillion. IF costs actually remain at those estimates (and the gov.'s track record shows that costs will increase dramatically), and the waste/fraud alone is a 'mere' 10%, that's astronomical. Maybe that infringes on the "Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity". Maybe the People won't want that.
