@powerhawk2000 You insult the grave of the dead child, sir, with the misrepresentation of such an event.
Quite clearly such an incident is not the result of the system, but the result of the doctors.
You are making a category mistake.

@powerhawk2000 Ha, you twat.
Dentistry is NOT an NHS service.
Shows how much you know about our system.

@powerhawk2000 Ah, I see, an article from the Independent.
The British media is unreliable. If you could find a link to the actual report so that
a) I know that it exists, and
b) I can dissect the figures
I would be very grateful.

@Chris6134 The child was becoming rapidly sicker as doctors at the local hospital struggled to diagnose him and there was a 10-hour delay before he was transferred to a specialist children's hospital. But his appendix had become gangrenous and he died a week later of multi-organ failure.
You know the fact that the brits have the worst teeth in any 1st or 2nd world country is a tip off how shit the NHs is.

Mr Lansley published a list of the 20 most vulnerable trusts, among 115 still awaiting foundation status.
David Mason, consultant paediatric anaesthetist and an author of the NCEPOD report, said in 2011 children should not be dying from appendicitis, one of the commonest surgical emergencies in the NHS.
"It is worrying that this is happening and it is symptomatic of the issues we found. Appendicitis is a common problem and the tragedy is it was not picked up till it was too late."

@powerhawk2000 Looks like I got here just in time.
I'd like to see a source for that very serious claim, if you don't mind.
Secondly, I should point out that the Commonwealth Fund ranks the US as #7 for safe care and #4 for effective care, suggesting that the situation is far worse in US hospitals.

The report is by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcomes and Deaths (NCEPOD). Andrew Lansley, the Health Secretary, has warned NHS managers that they would be sacked if they failed to meet agreed timetables for achieving clinical and financial sustainability for their trusts.
