KMTV-TV 2001 and 2002 Opens

The opens of the newscasts for KMTV-TV. Copyright 2001-2002 by Lee Enterprises and Emmis Communications. The latter two openings feature an exclusive news music package "Clearly to the Point" by OnTrack Music out of Omaha, NE. The first video clip features graphics made by Giant Octopus. The Instant Cast forecast and graphics were considered way ahead of the other stations in the market; that standard continues today. Deborah Ward and Greg Peterson were both let go on December 22, 2006. New anchors Carol Wang and Carlo Cecchetto debuted on January 22, 2007. Cecchetto left the station and Craig Nigrelli is now the 10 P.M. co-anchor with Wang. The station was rebranded as Action 3 News when Emmis sold most of its television stations to the Journal Broadcast Group, Inc. Jodi Baker now is a reporter for WOWT-TV Channel 6. Thanks for posting this! I really enjoy seeing these old Omaha news clips. Deb and Greg were very underrated anchors.

@epowell727 I always think "what if" especially in this case. The way WOWT and KETV have produced such poor quality, I think KMTV could've had a chance. But all of this Action 3 business is a fail.

@nebraskahuskers1 KMTV always had a certain "charm" to it through the 90's and early 2000's. I too think they lost that when they tried to implement the "Action News" format.
